2008 chilean cabs

What delight! This is my newest obsession: a cheap, slightly aged, South American red. This Trader Joe's brand Cab ($4.50 in Ohio, $3.99 elsewhere) surprises from the first sip and is quite unlike most cabs you've had before. The flavor coats rather than attacks your palette, and the tannins are soft and tame. Not an outrageously life-changing red, but certainly one that inspires small victories, with a flavor that departs from the usual repertoire but a price that does not.
